U17 Pre Christmas "B" Juvenile Tournament 28th Dec 2010

Zach and Josh....
At the senior boy’s U17 section, two very talented player’s Terenure College’s Zach Parkinson duelled with Pipers College Naas’s Josh Uddin in the singles final. Both boys were total gentlemen on the court, as they battled hard to win the title. Josh had a slight lead at the mid point with a score of 13-15, but Zach dug deep to bring the score back to 15-15. The match was played with great sportsmanship and it is a credit to their parents. Both players played some of their best badminton as the match came to a close, with Zach narrowly taking the lead and a win over the Naas boy as he took the title 30-26.
With very few girls turning up for the girl’s singles event, the organiser ran a singles round robin league for Aoife Prendergast (Holy Family Rathcoole), Sarah Barton (St Mary’s Naas) and Laura Desmond (Our Lady’s Terenure). On this outing Sarah took gold, Laura took silver and with Aoife taking bronze. More Photo's in Gallery

U13 Pre Christmas "B" Juvenile Tournament 28th Nov 2010

Mark and Aela..
The biggest entry of the weekend was at the U13 age group. Bishop Galvin’s Templeogue Mark Gannon played against St Patrick’s Stamullens Brian Mollaghan in the boys singles final. Gannon raced off to an early 8-2 lead, but the meath boy kept battling on court to try to win every point. Gannon was 15-8 up at the mid point as both boys played some super rallies throughout the match, but the Dublin boy took the match 30-19 and his first singles title.

Another Gannon was on court again for the girl’s singles final at the same age group. This time it was 9 year old Niamh Gannon (Bishop Galvin) against Stratford College’s Aela O’Flynn. Both girls moved each other around the four corners of the court. O’Flynn had a marginal lead throughout the match and although Gannon is a very strong player for her age the title went to the slightly older player Aela O’Flynn as she took the title 30-27. Rachel Kinnerk and Adam Raitt take the top titles...
At the U 15 age group in boy’s singles Knocklyon’s Adam Raitt competed in the final against Terenure College’s David Gavin. Both boys’ were the top seeds so no surprise they made all the way to the final. Raitt took the opening set 21-10 and although Gavin worked hard on the court the Knocklyon boy took the second set and the title 21-11.

In the girls singles St Mary’s Naas Rachel Kinnerk was the No.1 seed and she met Santa Marie’s College Gemma Colclough in the final.Kinnerk raced off to an early lead as Gemma tried to out fox the No.1. Kinnerk had too much power in her play as she won the title in two sets 21-6,21-14. "More Photo's In Gallery"

U11 Pre Christmas "B" Juvenile Tournament Terenure Centre 27-11-10

U 11 singles winners Diarmud Faherty and Katie McGlone took the top prize's. Diarmud played against the very tallented Rathmore boy David Barton in the final of the boys singles, but on this outing the Portarlington youth Faherty took the title in two sets 21-15,21-8.
The girls final was a much tighter affair between Guardian Angels pupil Katie McGlone and her opponent was Terenures B.C. Kate Kavanagh. McGlone took the opener 21-16 but the determined Kavanagh dug deep as she moved her opponent around the court as she took the middle set 15-21.
