There were over 54 entries in the singles, doubles, and mixed competition of all grades, players ranging from our current Leinster Inter County Team to some of our Dublin and District League teams and also some of our underage squad players.
Enthusiastic badminton players travelled from Carlow, Wicklow, Kildare, Meath and Dublin. It was great to see various age groups playing against each other with great vigour, but the theme of the tournament was also to have fun.
It was a great success for the tournament organiser Fearghal Kearney, who was working as hard as some of the players on the court. Fearghal who is a member of the C.I.E. badminton club said that the tournament could not have happened without the backing of the L.B.B.U.I. and of course the help of some of his fellow club mates.
Approximately 1,000 euro was raised for "Baby Max Wings of Love Fund Charity" which helps to purchase badly needed equipment for the childrens hospitals nationwide.
Due to the success of this event, it is intended to run it on an annual basis.
A big "Thank You" to all who took part on and off the courts!!
