Irelands' O'Halloran/Bing started off the 1st set at great pace and won 21-17, but their Belgium opponents Wouter Claes and Nathalie Descamps were going to have a say in the semifinals, as they went on to win the 2nd set 21-14. With the home crowd strongly behind Bing/O Halloran the final set was played with great vigor, but Claes/Descamp were just a little fitter and won a place in the final by winning the final set 21-18. Claes and Descamp then went on to win the final also.
Irelands number 1, Scott Evans won his opening game in the championships against Swedens Henri Hurskainen 21-16, 22-20, then he came up against Denmark’s up and coming star Hans-Kristian Vittinghus and Scott lost 21-17,21-13. In the ladies singles Irelands Ruth Kilkenny and Chloe Magee got to the second round but they also bowed out of the singles Championships, Ruth was beaten by the No.1 seed Anu Neiminen (Fin) 21-17,21-9 and Chloe was beaten by the No.4 seed, Englands Jill Pittard 21-14,21-17.
In the mens doubles 4 Irish mens doubles pairings were beaten in the 2nd round, early showers for Brian Smyth/Matthew Gleave, Ronan McGee/William O Neill, Mark Topping/Donal O Halloran and also Eugene Mc Kenna/Graham Henderson.
But in the ladies doubles the No. 4 seeds of the Championships Irelands Chloe Magee and Huang Bing made it all the way to the Quarter Finals but came up against Hollands Ginny Severian/Karina De Wit and although it was a hard fought game they were beaten in 2 sets 21-18,21-17.
