U18 Leinster Spring Juvenile Open Terenure Centre 14-3-2010
Young Ailesbury in all the finals......
The U18 Spring Juvenile Open was held on Sunday afternoon. Sadly no girls entered this event and only 7 boys. The No.1 &2 seeds met in the boy’s singles final, Terenure’s students Adam Jermyn and Graham Doyle duelled for the top prize. Graham tried every trick in the book of badminton to gain points from Adam, but Adam’s physical presence on the court was too great for Graham to handle. Adam won in two sets 21-10, 21-11.
Both Terenure boys teamed up to play in the doubles final, against fellow school mate Diarmud Cox and his partner Wesley Boy Mark Wright. All the boys on court play for Ailesbury BC so this match was like a typical club night’s play, as it went into an epic three setter. Adam and Graham took the opener 21-17, Diarmud and Mark took the middle set 18-21. The final set of the afternoon went into a tie breaker with Adam and Graham narrowly winning the title 26-24.
On behalf of the Leinster Branch I would like to thank all the organisers, players, parents and coaches in making every effort to play in this tournament and making the weekend a “Badminton fest”
