On Monday 1st February the Terenure Badminton Centre was the venue for the U.16 Dublin Schools Finals then on Thursday 4th February the Leinster U16 Schools Finals was held in the Baldoyle Centre.
In Division 1 Boy’s section on Monday local schools St Colmcilles Knocklyon (A) took on Terenure College (A).The Knocklyon boys, Mark White, David Neylon, Ian Patterson and Darren Leonard were too strong on the day as they took the four singles matches giving them a comfortable 4-0 lead as they went into the doubles.Terenure boys saved some face as Niall Reynolds and Robbie Neill took their doubles match and then Jack Lawlor and Mark Lavelle also won their match leaving St Colmcilles still winning 4-2. St Colmcilles continued their success as they went on to win the Leinster finals to book their spot in the Schools All Irelands on March 24th in Gormanston College.
Again in the Dublin Finals both schools met again in the Division 2 boys section this time out Terenure College’s (B) took on St Colmcille's (B). Terenure captain Zach Parkinson lead fellow students James Cannon, Alex Buckley,Paraic Rowan and Connor Doyle to a convincing win over the Knocklyon boys of Sam Giffney,Eoin Hennessy,Darragh Birmingham and Gary Ibbotson. In the developing 3rd and 4th Divisions Gormanston College took on Wesley College in the Dublin Finals. The Dundalk school won the Division 4-2 and in the last Division Holy Child played Colaiste Cois Life (Lucan). This was a real nail biting match with both sides 3-3 at the close and it went back to points count back and Holy Child won by 162-142pts.
