Notts 2008

Last weekend Leinster’s U17 team travelled to Nottingham University to play in the Harrod Inter Counties Tournament (27th-30thMarch’08).

Under the leaderdship of coach Pat Marron and manager Amanda Dunlop, the Leinster team performed very well  and were unlucky in some matches, where they were narrowly beaten 6-4 (results below).

The team played 10 matches over a four day period, which was both physically and mentally demanding on the team and the few supporters who were working hard making lunches for the players between matches. Leinster finally finished in 15th  place out of the 39 teams that travelled, which was one place better than last year.

Yorkshire went on to win the event for a 10th successive year, which is a great achievement, as I look back through the record books Leinster did get into two finals, they won this tournament back in 1994, and lost to “Yorkshire” in 1999, so it can be done !!!

I would like to say personally that I certainly enjoyed the trip, the players were super, and the travelling adults enjoyed every moment of it.
