Leinster Under 14 School Finals 04.03.08

The last Leinster School teams that qualified for the All Ireland Schools finals scheduled for Gormanton College on 12th March ’08 were decided in Baldoyle Badminton Centre on Tuesday 4th March.

In the U14 boys Div 1 section’s St Colmcille’s Knocklyon were clear winners with Sutton Park runners up. Mark White, Ian Patterson, Darren Leonard and David Neylon, will join their fellow U19 school mates who already won a day off school for next Wednesday (12th March) "All Ireland" Schools finals in Gormanston.

Division 2’s winners Terenure College (A) made no mistakes against runners up Gormanston College, "Nure’s" captain Colin Burke lead his team to a clear victory and Robbie Neill, Mark Lavelle, and Jack Lawlor will join Terenure’s U19 Div 2 and the U16 Div 1 College teams who have already qualified.

In Division 3 Terenure College (B) won a trophy but don’t qualify for the All Ireland but hopefully they will be out there anyway to support their fellow students.

Our Lady’s Terenure girl’s U14 team played a very sporty match against Mt Sackville, this was the game of the afternoon with the match 3-3 at the close, so it went down to points count back, Our Lady’s narrowly won their place in the finals, 144-125 points, captain Jessica Moran, Emma Frost, Aoife Keyes and Danielle Neill (sister of earlier mentioned Robbie) will also join their schools U19 team who also won a place in the All Irelands several weeks ago.

In Div: 2 St Colmcille’s Knocklyon made it a double win on the day, they beat Wesley College in their round robin league, Maria McGrath, Emma Doherty, Emma Cooney and Kerrie Griffin will also be on the bus to the finals well done girls !!

Thanks must go to Paddy Harte and his team who spent a long day out in Baldoyle keeping matches running smoothly.
