In the boys singles number one seed Ruaraidh Sim (Friends Lisburn) was never really under pressure as he made it all the way to the final, to meet Joshua Magee (Royal &Prior) who toppled the number two seed Jonathon Dolan ( Summerhill Sligo) at the semi final stages, with a 2set win 21-19,21-15. Magee gave it his all in the final but Sim was too skilful and went on to take the title 21-15,21-10.

Magee and Dolan paired up to play in the final of the boys doubles, their opponents were Dundalk’s Liam O’ Leary (Del La Salle) and Neil O Flaherty ( Gormanton Col). This was highly charged game but the Leinster boys dug deep to play some of their best badminton and went on to take a national title 21-17, 21-18.

Dolan did not go away empty handed as he paired up with Friends Lisburn’s Caroline Black to play against Leinster pair Jane Killoch( St Dominic’s Cabra) and David Marron( St Benildus) to take the mixed doubles title 21-16,21-16. The girls singles and doubles was an all Northern affair, with Ruth Roddis(Friends Lisburn) meeting fellow schoolmate Kirsty Walker in the final of the singles. Roddis worked hard on court but won the title in 2(21-12,21-12) Roddis then paired up with Caroline Black to play against school mates Rachael Orr and Kirsty Walker. Roddis and Black made it a double title win by winning the girls doubles 21-18, 21-11.

All the competitors in this event were working hard to seek a good result as there is an Irish U/15 team being picked for the Quadrangular in Scotland on the 26/27th April’ 08
