Having had a disappointing weekend the previous weekend when playing Durham, the Leinster team was looking to put things right and themselves back in contention at the top of the ICC table by securing two victories against the current table toppers Yorkshire.
Leinster got off to a great start on the Saturday winning three of the four singles. By the time the doubles were finished this early lead had been lost. Yorkshire took three of the four mens doubles and three of the four ladies doubles to leave Leinster needing all three mixed to secure a victory.
Leinster fought hard in the mixed but needing to win all three to take a much needed victory would be a tough task. Unfortunately it was not to be and the team only managed to win two of the three on offer, loosing the match 8-7.
Sunday saw the Leinster team come out determined to put the previous days defeat behind them. Again Leinster took three of the four singles and got off to a great start. The mens doubles was a disaster with Yorkshire taking all four games with Leinster not even managing to get a set.
In a brilliant performance the Leinster Ladies brought their side back into the match. The first two doubles were shared and by the time the two reverse ladies doubles were on court the Leinster team trailed 6-4. In two three set matches Leinster won both final sets 21-17 to bring the match back within Leinsters grasp at six games all with just the mixed remaining.
Needing two of the three games left to be played all three matches went on court together and sure enough Leinster managed a repeat of the previous day winning two of the games and the match 8-7.
This leaves Leinster three points behind Yorkshire in the table with two matches remaining. The result of the division is now out of Leinster hands and Yorkshire need only secure victory in their last two matches to top the group and gain promotion straight back to division 1 having been relegated last season.
