“B” Juvenile Tournament (Terenure Centre) Sunday 2-12-07

Finally on Sunday afternoon, it was time for the U/15 boys and girls to take to the courts. Mark White came up against Paul Doherty in the boys singles final. Both guys used the four corners of the court to try and outwit their opponent, but White began to take hold of the game and the title and went on to win 30-20.

Doherty was not going home without a winner’s trophy, as both boys met again in the boys doubles final. Doherty was partnered by Aidan Ward and White’s partner was Darren Leonard. Doherty and Ward played some great doubles badminton to take     the doubles trophy 30-19.

In the girls singles final Clodagh Mc Hale played against Emma Frost. This game was played at a great pace, and both girls showed their fitness around the courts. McHale began to take hold of the game, but Frost dug deep to make her opponent work for every point. Unfortunately Frost went over on her ankle and had to retire from the match, McHale collected the winning trophy this time, but I am sure these girls will meet again on court in the future. In the girl’s doubles final, Cianne Diskin and Anne Heery teamed up to beat Clodagh McHale and Niamh Cox.

Once again "Thanks" to all the organiser, parents and players that help run these tournaments so successfully!!
