The very young talented Lisburn pair of Tony Stephenson and Sinead Chambers completed a double of titles. Stephenson came up against Dublin’s Ronan McGee in the final of the men’s singles with the Northerner talking the title 21-13, 21-17. In the doubles he triumphed once again, partnered by fellow Alpha Club man Gavin McAuley, the pair proved just about too strong for Mathew Gleave and Gary Kavanagh by winning 21-19, 25-23.
Sinead secured her double by accounting for Emma Callow in the singles by 2 sets 21-11, 21-11. She then teamed up with Emma to clinch the doubles final where they overcame Aoife Ahern and Lauren Mc Elveen in 2 sets after just about winning the 1st 25-23 while the 2nd set proved more comfortable at 21-15.
Ronan McGee did not go home empty handed however, as in the mixed event he teamed up with Sandra Lynch to claim the title by overcoming Mathew Gleave and Emear Dempsey 21-19, 25-23. Sandra was in sparkling form, as was evidenced by the diamond’s on her left hand following her recent engagement. Congrats!!
