Mark Donnelly (Mt Pleasant BC) won the blue ribbon singles event in Lisburn last weekend. The 18 year old Trinity Science student who took a year out of badminton last year to study for his leaving cert was on fire in his singles play...

He met the 16 year old No. 1 seed Tony Stephenson (Ulster) in his first round match and Donnelly kept his cool and won the match in 3 sets, that was the only match that Donnelly was in difficulty with. In the final he beat Danial Magee (Older brother of Sam/Chloe) in 2 sets 21-10, 21-16.
