Ciara Brady (St Mary’s Glasinevin) caused another upset in the girl’s singles by pushing aside the No.2 seed Emma Callow (Wallace High) in a 3 set thriller in the semi final stages, but Ciara lost out in the final to the No.1 seed and top class player in all 3 categories, Sinead Chambers (Rathmore Grammar Lisburn). Sinead then teamed up with Emma Callow to beat Wexford duo of Laura Lynch (St Mary’s New Ross) and Laura Butler (Colaiste Brid Enniscorty) in the girls doubles final and finally Chambers took the Mixed doubles title with Tony Murphy (Friends Lisburn) to make it once again a hat trick of titles for the Lisburn girl.
Sam Magee went home with the boy’s doubles title when he teamed up with Lisburns Sam Clegg (Friends Lisburn) to take on the ”Alpha” Pairing of Gavin McAuley and Tony Stephenson. There was only one winner in this match and the two “Sams” took the title 21-17, 21-17.
For all the Leinster players who achieved good results in recent juvenile tournaments, they have been rewarded by being selected for the Leinster Adult team who played last weekend against Somerset in the English Inter County League Div3. Those players that made their debut were Mark Donnelly (Institute), Ciara Brady, Laura Lynch, Laura Butler.
